One aspect in Numerology which determines the kind of hardships, obstacles one will face in life is called Challenges. There are four challenges to be faced over the entire life-span of an individual, divided as follows:
- first challenge is from birth to 30 to 35 years of age
- second challenge which starts from 30 to 35, lasts up to 55 to 60 years of age
- third challenge is experienced through-out life
- fourth from 55 to 60 till the end (3 challenges spread over one’s entire life time and 1 challenge faced through-out life).
Each of these four challenges is represented by a number, ranging from number “0” to “8” (challenge number “0”, challenge number “1”…and so on). The number of the challenge reflects the tone of the confrontation or the kind of obstacles that will be experienced in that period and the number of the challenge is derived by a formula.
Challenges are specific lessons that a person is expected to attend to in a particular phase of his life. We learn by meeting the challenge and dealing with it effectively. Having a particular challenge means we must face our weaknesses in that particular aspect in that particular period and consciously work to improve ourselves.
Here I wish to write my observations about challenges “0” and “2”. I have observed that people who like to offer their time and services for the betterment of mankind often have these two challenges in most or at least some of their life periods. In fact, many of the Indian spiritual gurus have had these challenges mostly in the latter part of their lives. The last challenge for many of the spiritual gurus is a number “0” or a “2”. Here’s a list of the prominent spiritual leaders who come under this category. I have written their DOB (Date of Birth) followed by the specific number of the challenges in the brackets in their chronological order.
| Sri Sri Ravi Shankar | 13/05/156 | (1,1,0,2) |
| Osho (Rajnish) | 11/12/1931 | (1,3,2,2,) |
| Ramdev Baba | 25/12/1965 | (4,4,0,0) |
| Shree Satya Sai Baba | 23/11/1926 | (3,4,1,2) |
| Maharishi Mahesh Yogi | 12/01/1918 | (2,2,0,0) |
| Mata Amritanandamayi | 27/09/1953 | (0,0,0,0) |
| Paramhansa Yogananda | 05/01/1893 | (4,2,2,2) |
As I have mentioned earlier, each challenge number poses a particular type of obstacles for the person. Understanding the nature of the challenges “0” and “2” will help us understand as to why these people who strive for the advancement of mankind were endowed with these challenges.
Challenge 0 is a unique challenge in the sense if you have this challenge, obstacles may be coming from all directions which can make it difficult to act on your preferences. During this challenge there is an opportunity to go deeper within yourself and discover the inner being that you are. This challenge is one that is normally found in highly evolved individuals, who are old souls. So that explains why this challenge is seen in many spiritual gurus.
When you have challenge 2 you are very good at understanding other people’s feelings and pain. This challenge makes you understanding, compassionate and a very empathetic person and hence very capable of healing the inner turmoil of others. This is a quality which is desirable in people who wish to manifest a change in people. For people to get drawn to them they must be capable of empathizing with them and also empowering them. With a challenge “2” they are meant to empathize and empower others without suppressing their individuality and succeed in maintaining their own center.
Understanding the inner essence of the learnings of these two challenges makes us understand why people who have these challenges get drawn towards bringing about a change in humanity. Some more famous people who also have a “0” or a “2” challenges are:
Barack Obama who had a “0” challenge throughout his life and also in the last phase of his life.
Oprah Winfrey the famous talk show host and philanthropist had a “0” challenge through-out her life and also has a “0” challenge in the last phase of her life.
American Vice president Kamala Harris has recently come out of a “0” challenge and I hope it has endowed her with much spiritual wisdom gained in the last 25-30 years to embrace the challenges she may have to face in the next phase of her life to bring about positive changes in the lives of American people.
The famous actress who is known for a lot of humanitarian work, Audrey Hepburn had a challenge “0” through-out life and a challenge “2” in the last phase when she has done a lot of work as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF helping impoverished children in Africa.
Sudha Murthy who has a lot of philanthropical work to her credit through the Infosys foundation has challenge “2” through-out her life and challenge “2” is also the challenge in the last phase of her life which has made her understand the pain of those suffering and make a difference in their lives.
So, these two challenges are experienced by people who have the desire to be of service to mankind and especially when they are in the latter part of life such people are bound to devote much of their time in some humanitarian work.
